New electric car company Byton will reveal its first ever electric car tonight at CES 2018 in Las Vegas.
The Chinese electric car start-up, founded by Future Mobility Corporation (FMC), will unveil details of a brand-new mid-sized SUV.
Byton also claims that it is developing rapid charging for the car as EVs need to match up to combustion engines.
It said: “In order to experience time efficiency similar to a combustion car, charging times need further reduction.
“That is exactly what we are about to achieve. In the time it takes you to enjoy a cup of coffee, the battery will get enough charge for a whole week of urban commuting.
“With BYTON, you will truly experience carefree electric mobility.”
These are big claims from a start-up but its list of executives is impressive.
Former BMW, Nissan and Tesla executives are all working together to develop this new car.
Much else about the car’s performance and even its name are unknown, with the company holding this information back ahead of the launch tonight.
One of the biggest talking points of the car is its interior, which is unlike any interior seen in a production car.
Another screen is fitted directly into the steering wheel which will likely provide information to the driver.
The company’s ambition is to prepare the vehicle for when AI and autonomous driving becomes commonplace.
